Club "firsts" follow Battlefords Trip
The biathlon group
has continued to train weekly despite the lack of snow. New comers
Penny, Ross, Logan and Lyle have made great progress and with a little
time on skis will be ready for a competition before the season is done.
We travelled all
the way to North Battleford, Saskatchewan for Alberta Cup #3 on January
18th and 19th. A number of “FIRST'S" were the result: |
 |
-first time in Saskatchewan
-first race in 2003
-first ice cream
with oats for breakfast
-first medal in
an Alberta Cup competition
-first change of
motels half-way through a weekend competition
-first getting sick
in Saskatchewan
-first stopping
in Fox Creek on the way home because of too much snow
John and Jeremy
won SILVER medals for the Saturday Individual event and Peter a BRONZE.
Unofficially Jeremy also won a SILVER for Sunday's Sprint and Peter a BRONZE.
A great job was done by everyone in getting up for a competition without
any time on the snow. We are all looking forward to some on-the-snow training
in preparation for the next Alberta Cup in Camrose, February 1st and 2nd
Thanks to the 13
people who gave up a Saturday in December to attend the Biathlon Officials
clinic and to those who began to make the preparations for the race that
we had hoped to host in early January. Thanks to Greg for helping
out when Rick and I were on the road to North Battleford.
We might still get
a chance to host an Alberta Cup this season depending on the conditions
in other venues.. |
