 WINTER 2025-2026 Children's Learn to Ski Program: 
  • REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED for the 2025/2026 Season!
  • Navigate through our Zone 4 membership page to find the Children's Learn to Ski Info.
  • The child must have a Wapiti Nordic membership ($53) to participate.
  • $55 for the lesson program + $90 for equipment rental (to take-home) for the duration of (8-10 weeks) of the lesson program.
  • Children must register and attend the Learn to Ski program regularly to qualify for the extended equipment rental.
  • We do not have enough inventory at this time to do rentals outside of this program and our daily rental options. 
  • NOTE: To meet SafeSport Policy, all parents must complete 2 x free SafeSport modules = "Safe Sport Training" + "Understanding the Rule of Two". Create an account or use your NCCP#, then navigate to the E-learning tab here
  • These two modules must be retaken on an annual basis at the beginning of each season.

Bunny Rabbits & Jackrabbits: 
  • Registration closes Dec. 25, 2025, @ Midnight.
  • The program runs from January to March. 
  • Saturdays: 10:30 am-12:00 pm.
  • START DATE for 2026 Program: First lesson date is Saturday, Jan.3rd - watch for more info via email.
  • If a parent intends to ski with their children during the program, the parent also needs a membership.
  • Program start date and information will be emailed out to parents in the new year.
  • Temperature cutoff is -20°C or colder, including wind chill. (In accordance with Environment Canada).

Bunny Rabbits: For first-time skiers ages 3 - 5 years. Children must have an adult accompany them.
Jackrabbits: For ages 5 - 9 years.
  • Children can progress from beginner to advanced with appropriate activities at each level
  • Option to join the Cross Country Race team, your child is looking for something more competitive
  • Complementary skis will be provided daily to parents at the start of each Saturday lesson, as they are welcome to ski with the group.
  • The goal of the Kids' Learn to Ski program is to introduce children to cross-country skiing in hopes that they adopt the sport for life! 
  • Fun and games are the major components of this skills development program, with children grouped by age and ability.
  • Program registration limits are in effect to maintain small group sizes and good coach-to-student ratios.
  • Children who participate in the program are eligible for our ski equipment package at $90.00 (2025-2026 season). Equipment is usually issued before Christmas, and kids can keep it until the end of the season!  
  • Please note: rental equipment is not guaranteed as it is based on existing inventory and will be first-come, first-served. Equipment pickup dates will be sent out before the start of the first class. In the event that you have paid for rental equipment, and we are unable to fulfill your request, you will receive a refund for your rental fees.

Cancellation Policy:
  • We monitor the temperature via the Environment Canada website.
  • For the safety of our skiers, lessons will be cancelled if the temperature is –20°C or colder.

​Notification Process:
  • A final decision will be made by 9:00 AM on Saturday. If lessons are cancelled, we will notify you by 9:15 AM via email and post updates on the Wapiti Nordic website (wapitinordic.com) and our Facebook page.

Important Reminders:
  • No news is good news: If you do not hear from us, the lesson is proceeding as scheduled.
  • Personal discretion: We encourage parents to decide what is best for their child when temperatures approach –20°C.
  • Contacting leaders: If you are in doubt, you may contact your ski leader. Please keep in mind that leaders are often busy preparing for sessions in the morning and may be slow to respond.

Financial subsidies are available through Jumpstart and KidSport. If you are receiving a financial subsidy for your child's registration, please contact Wapiti Nordic directly to register.

Volunteer Opportunities available for Parents- Make it a Family affair!
The Kid's Learn to Ski program is a volunteer run program, we rely heavily on volunteer leaders to run each group.  Free training is available for parents who are committed to leading a group.
