Drop-In Snowshoe Program-
Every Sunday @1pm starting Sun, Dec. 21/25:

Learn snowshoeing and navigation with Drop-In Snowshoe at Wapiti Nordic. Learn about trail etiquette while snowshoeing and develop familiarity with the Wapiti Nordic's trail layout. The group will teach you how to orient yourself using trail signage and maps, and how to choose appropriate routes based on conditions and ability. This will also naturally include trail etiquette and shared-use awareness. Led by amazing volunteers come out and learn something new!

  • Program: Casual, Drop-in Snowshoe Group
  • Focus: Snowshoeing, Navigation, and Trail Etiquette
  • Cost: A Membership or a Day Pass
  • Ages: 16 and up
  • Gear: Rentals are Available for an Additional Cost
  • Time: Group will be meeting every Sunday @ 1pm starting Dec. 21st
  • Meeting Place is the Lodge
  • The temperature cutoff for the group will be -25°C, including wind chill. (In accordance with Environment Canada).
  • All skill levels are welcome!

Wapiti Nordic offers snowshoeing on our multi-use trails at our facility. It is a great outdoor Winter activity for the whole family and doesn't need a lot of technical skill - just strap on some snowshoes and go!

Trails:
  • Southside (of Twp Rd 704): Can be easily accessed from the picnic shelter (just off the parking lot at the main lodge) and then follow the signs - see the trail map for details. Dogs NOT permitted on these trails.
  • Northside (off Hwy 40): Go through the gate and take the trail immediately opposite the picnic bench or off to the left up the hill past the old cabin. Both are signed as #1 and represent the start and end of a 4km loop - see trail map for details. Dogs ARE permitted on these trails.

Rentals:
We also offer snowshoe rentals for both adults and youth. Rentals are available on a drop-in basis during Rental Room hours of operation.
Please note:
  • A day pass or membership is required to access the snowshoe trails at WNSC.
  • The purchase of a day pass or membership includes all assumption of risk and liability
  • Absolutely NO snowshoeing or walking on the groomed classic or skate cross country ski trails during the Winter months - even on dog trails. Both activities must stick to our Multi-Use trails. Snowshoe imprints on cross country ski trails creates additional work for our grooming team.
  • If you have to cross a groomed classic trail, please step over the classic track carefully to avoid damaging it.
  • Please stay on marked snowshoeing trails ONLY! They are marked with the yellow diamonds and ribbon tape.
  • Wildlife frequent all trails at WNSC - we recommend that you travel in a group and be informed
  • When parking at the trail heads, do not leave any valuables in your vehicle.

Thank you in advance for your courtesy and consideration. Enjoy your adventure off the beaten path!!
