Dallal Olver- Operations Coordinator
April 11, 2022:
A HUGE Volunteer thank you is in order!!
The winter ski season has come to an end at Wapiti Nordic and I think we need to take a pause to tend to some very important business - a thank you to all our volunteers! This winter season was made possible by our amazing team of Volunteers: Instructors, Coaches, lodge attendants, trail volunteers and Board Members. It is the volunteers, instructors, coaches, trail groomers and Board Members who are the backbone of our Club. They dedicate their time and skill to the club so we can offer lessons, guided tours, maintain the trails and provide a fun outdoor experience to the young and aged Nordic Lovers. When I first started as Operational Coordinator at the Club, I was told that I would be surprised by what volunteers do at the club. Three months later, I am in full agreement, I am both impressed and excited by the level of passion, pride and dedication, Wapiti Nordic Club volunteers have shown. Wapiti Nordic Volunteers are truly exceptional. Thank you for an amazing winter season!! I am excited to see how the spring/summer season unfolds and what exciting programing and outdoor experiences we can provide as a club.
January 2022:
I am so excited to be part of the Wapiti Nordic Ski Club family and have already received a warm welcome by the Board, volunteers and Instructors. I am diving into my new role as Operations Coordinator, learning so much already about the world of cross country skiing. I am born and raised in Alberta around Lesser Slave Lake, so have spent time with outdoor activities, such as ice fishing, down hill skiing, sledding and skating. I am also married and mother of 3 kids, who will be part of the Jackrabbits kids learn to ski program this season. As the Operations Coordinator, a newly created role for the Club, I will be responsible for the administration of Club services, scheduling programs, coordinating lessons community group use of the facility and assisting with special events.
I have a wealth of knowledge about the non-profit sector, community building, program development and volunteer management. I have worked with volunteers for 15 years and have also served as volunteer on my neighbourhood association board. My passion is building community and creating fun and dynamic community programs. I am excited at the possibilities for future programs and events at the Club. After just one week at the club, I am amazed at the incredible dedication and investment of the Wapiti Nordic volunteers and instructors. I can tell already that Wapiti Nordic is a much loved Club. I plan to spend more time at the lodge, hoping to meet as many members, instructors and volunteers as I can. If you see me with my laptop set up at a table, come over for a chat. I plan to take advantage of working out at the lodge as an opportunity to improve my xcountry skiing skills… a lesson or 2 might be in my future!
