Volunteer Hour Tracking - NEW for 2020!
Our Board has decided that it would be beneficial for the Club to track ALL volunteer hours throughout the 2020 calendar year so that we can quantify the volunteer time it takes to operate a club like Wapiti Nordic, and help us leverage this time when applying for municipal, provincial and federal grants. Effective January 1, 2020 forward:
- All volunteer activities should be individually tracked using this Excel template. A PDF version is also available if you wish to print and use a paper copy to track your hours.
- For the purpose of this exercise, volunteer hours are defined as "any unpaid work performed"
- "Activity" could be anything from helping with an event, grooming, teaching lessons, working a casino, helping around the lodge, planning or preparation at home, attending meetings, trail maintenance, opening or closing the lodge, etc. No activity is too small not to be included!
- No judgement: don't be shy about recording how much - or how little - you volunteer for Wapiti Nordic! This is not an exercise in rating volunteer efforts or making it a competition - it is about quantifying how much community support is invested into the club each year.
- Please round volunteer time to the nearest 0.25 (15 minutes) of an hour. Example: 3:75 hours = 3 hours and 45 minutes
- You can submit your tracking sheet monthly or at a minimum, once per quarter as the minimum frequency, by emailing it or submitting hard copies to a member of our Board.
- We would also like to move towards better honouring our volunteers, so this exercise will also help us make sure we are including everyone when the time comes. Plus we would love to hear from you on how YOU would like to be acknowledged!
- Got questions? Please email us for clarification. Thanks in advance for your participation and cooperation.
