Yes, here in Grande Prairie our neighbours come in many shapes and sizes! Please be aware that the Wapiti Nordic Ski Club trails are in close proximity to a wildlife corridor along the Wapiti river valley. Coyotes, lynx, moose, bears and cougars all consider our trails their playground too. And while the risk of an adverse encounter is relatively low, all trail users assume this Liability / Risk

Trail users should:
- Refer to the Alberta BearSmart website on how to prevent encounters and what to do if you do encounter wildlife
- Travel in groups where possible
- Make noise especially when approaching corners or trails with restricted sight lines
- Carry and know how to use bear spray (view Alberta BearSmart video )
- Do not wear headphones
- Be aware that a dog can lead an animal back to you - see our Pet Guidelines
- Advise someone of your start and finish times and which trails you plan to use
- If you experience an animal on our trails, please post directly to our Facebook page noting the date, time and location
- If emergency medical attention is required call 911
